Frances is a 66-year-old English Literature teacher who loves her job, her school and her students. She taught on the south side of Chicago for four years and she has been with the Rockford school district for many years. 

Frances teaches English to many underprivileged freshmen students. She was teaching her students online from March through June and it was very difficult for her because many of her students didn’t have computers, so they couldn’t learn online.

Since September, she has been teaching two days a week in-person, two days a week online and one day a week in school to provide extra help for her students.

Frances’ biggest challenge in 2020 was not being able to get to know her students on a personal level, which led to higher failing rates.

However, her biggest blessing of 2020 was moving into her new home and her hope for 2021 is that she and her family will be able to gather in it very soon!
