Vercher Family

Lakeisa Vercher is a nursing assistant for a nursing home and rehabilitation center. She has a 19 and 16-year-old son and her mother also lives with them and works in healthcare. Together, both have seen a lot on the frontlines and just received the Covid-19 vaccine.

At the nursing and rehabilitation center where she works, some of her co-workers contracted Covid-19 and had to be hospitalized. Unfortunately, a few of her patients also contracted Covid-19 and died.

Lakeisa’s biggest challenge in 2020 was the fear she had going to work each day about possibly contracting the Covid-19 virus. However, she said that going to work was the “right thing to do”, especially as some of her coworkers became sick and unable to work. She knew she needed to help her team out.

Her hope for 2021 is to help her 19-year-old son enroll into a community college!
