The most important thing at any party is the food. It’s always best to keep things simple, but don’t forget about your friends with dietary restrictions. Be sure to include some vegetarian or gluten-free options like vegetables, salad or hummus, so nobody goes hungry!
The second most important thing at any party is the music. Make sure you create or select a playlist that all age groups can enjoy. Select a playlist that is chalk-full of the classics like, “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison, “American Girl” by Tom Petty, “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd or “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner.
Some unwanted guests that will most likely be at your party are mosquitoes. Make sure you line your yard with citronella candles to keep the insects away. You can even try plugging a few fans in outside since mosquitoes are weak flyers and tend to avoid any breeze. Plus, your guests will probably enjoy the extra airflow!
Your backyard might get a little dangerous if you don’t have the correct amount of lighting (especially with those open-flame citronella candles). Set the mood and add a little extra lighting by hanging a few string lights, lanterns or tealights.
Make sure your guests can kick back and relax by either providing enough seating for them or by suggesting that they bring their own lawn chairs (BYOLC).
