Envoy Mortgage Donates 916 Pounds of Food to the Houston Food Bank
ENVOY MORTGAGE DONATES 916 POUNDS OF FOOD TO HOUSTON FOOD BANK
Houston, TX – January 4, 2012 – What originally began as a random act at Envoy Mortgage’s corporate office in the month of October 2010, resulted in the organization donating food to the Houston Food Bank. An employee at Envoy’s corporate headquarters suggested that he and a few of his colleagues grow their beards. They all agreed that raising donations for a local charity would be the only way to go about the effort, which was termed Beardvember.
“When I was approached with the idea, I said the only way I would participate is if it were to benefit charity,” said Chris Wright, Branch Liaison Manager at Envoy. “Being near the holiday season, food can be a real challenge for people. After some research, the Houston Food Bank was identified as a great place to focus our efforts.”
Envoy employees partook in the inaugural Beardvember effort in 2010, when food items were donated to the Houston Food Bank. In 2011, as part of our “Envoy Lending Hands” initiative the employees collected 916 pounds of food items for the Houston Food bank.
“The employees at Envoy have strong backgrounds and commitment in supporting their communities,” Wright said. “There are so many projects in which we are engaged. Our employees get their hands around these causes and go all out. One of our values is putting people first. All of our employees take that to heart—not only in terms of our customers, but the individuals in our communities.”
